How do I keep my lash extensions clean?
Wanderlash Travel Brush for daily brushing.
Hey you babe! Great lashes! Now how do you keep them looking that way for as long as possible? It’s all about the aftercare.
Keep them dry
To ensure that the lash glue sets, it’s important to keep your eyelash extensions dry for at least five hours after application, but up to 12-24 hours to be safe. This includes avoiding sweaty exercise, steam rooms and saunas, and getting your face wet in the shower. If you can, head to your appointment with a clean face and no makeup so that you can give your face a simple wipe with micellar water or a Face Halo before bed and avoid any splashing water. Oh, and it also means no crying so save Marley and Me for another day.
Brush them daily
Brushing your eyelash extensions helps to remove dust, dirt and oils that may build up on your lashes. This helps to keep them clean and avoid the risk of irritation. Also, as your natural lashes grow through their cycle, your eyelash extensions may start to criss-cross and tangle. Daily brushing will help keep your extensions tangle free and looking fresh. It’s really important to keep your eyelash brush clean too, so that you don’t transfer any dirt or germs from your brush to your eyes. The Wanderlash Travel Brush is a great option as it keeps your brush protected in a case, and is small enough for you to take on-the-go.
Avoid oils
We love our face oils for hydration, and oil cleansers for easily removing the day’s makeup but unfortunately, oil also breaks down the glue on your eyelash extensions.
Be gentle with them
This includes being careful not to rub your eyes, to not touch your lashes, and not sleeping on them (we’re looking at you, face-sleepers!)
Wash your lashes
Being gentle with your lashes and not touching them does not, I repeat DOES NOT mean that you don’t touch them to wash them. It’s important to wash off oils, makeup or dirt that has traveled and landed on your eyes. Remember, your lash extensions are a synthetic material which makes it easier for germ and product build up. Be sure to use an oil-free shampoo or cleanser to wash your lashes, such as a baby shampoo.
